A Caged Pigeon

Below Stats are from an NGO.
Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread violations of human rights. According to NGO services of Kota 2013, 35% of women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual violence. However, some national studies show that up to 70 per cent of women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime from an intimate partner.

A true event that took place in Kota Rajasthan, Here girls are living like a caged pigeon in her own family, now moving ahead with a true incident
October 2013 –
Location – Kota, Coffee shop
I and my friend were sitting in a coffee shop. She was narrating a true incident about a innocent girl, which she was working upon in her NGO, she told it’s a deadly situation for a girl in here in Kota/ Rajasthan; orthodox parents are killing their daughter’s dream on the name of age old traditions and believes.

A girl with lots of dreams in her heart went for a job interview without her parent’s permission, as she wanted to make her parents surprise and proud, she wanted to do something out of the box and wanted to make it large.  On her way to the interview she met a guy ,an old school  friend  while she was talking to him ,unfortunately  her dad’s friend a neighbour also was passing from the same way, to her disgust he saw her  talking to that guy and  conveyed this information to her parents.

She took the interview positively, received positive feedback and grabbed the job opportunity as well. She was very happy she has got the wings now and was ready to fly in her dream clouds. But as it is said “You never get what you desire, you always get what you deserve”. So her parents and her destiny have planned something unreal for her back home.
After returning home she found her parents angrily waiting for her, as soon as she stepped inside, her parent’s started shouting like a crime reporter of a TV show. why did you go for the interview?, Are you not getting money for your expenses?,  you are destroying our name in the society and tu to humari badnamee krwayegi and suddenly her mother brought the most awaited topic by crying humari to kismet hi kharab hai, ek ladki hai wo bhi aise nikal gai and asked about that guy , whom she met on her way to job interview, tu uss ladke se kyo bat kr rahi thi, jarur tera koi chakkar chal rha hoga, that girl tried to convince them that nothing like that papa but they had already made their judgement without knowing a single point and were not ready to listen her, now her mother joined the party again walked up and slapped her on the face, and the  innocent girl started crying & screaming badly.
Today irony of a girl in tier two cities of India is that even their parents are not ready to trust upon their daughter.

After this huge tornado her parents left her alone by putting her in a dark room and went back to their respective jobs. Now that girl started feeling alone and disgraceful in her own home as the result of this mental torture and frustration she decided to take the last step anybody would take i.e.  Suicide.  She knifed her veins, till evening nobody was aware of this miss-happening as soon as her parents noticed this, they took her to the hospital, she was almost dead not in her senses but still breathing, doctor were not ready to admit her because it was a suicide case then the NGO came into the action, reached on time, and dealt with the situation.

The girl survived and recovered from the injury but her parents fixed her wedding after few days of this mishap, and her mother said after all she has to serve her family  chulha choka hi to karna hai use,  she has take to care of her kids and husband that’s all.
No matter how much we worship and praise women during those 9 days of navaratri but the truth is condition of women in this country can never improve; she is treated just like a kid producing machine.
I hope one day we can proudly say that we live in a country where women is treated like a God not only during navaratri but literally.

I would like to close this article quoting few lines written by me

Har pal me dahali h VO....
Ek masum si kali h VO,
Mousam ki ye VO maya h...
Ki patta uska bhi murjhaya h.....
Fir se uska mahakana h....
Hum sabko sath nibhana hai
Yuuu dua ab h rab se...
Mile khushyia ab use sab se.
Gamo me na uska basera ho.
Fir naya uska savera ho...
